I've heard so many good things about Donut Hut. But the past 3 times I've gone they have been either closed or out of donuts. Huge morning buzz kill! Make sure you get there early!

A local landmark, donuts, coffee, friendly service. Try, then repeat.

Best little donut shop I've been to, the donuts are always fresh and they literally melt in your mouth. My favorites are always the sprinkle glazed ones.

Dang these are GOOD donuts. Better than anything else in the metro.

Classic. Old school. You're not gonna find donuts with a slice of bacon on top or whatever hot new craze is coming around the bend. What you will find are donuts fresh made that morning in a rather large variety of types and styles. They are delicious. Soft, sweet, and oh so bad for you. Yep, they can sell out rather quick. The first thing my kids say on a weekend morning is "Dad, can we go to the Donut Hut?!?!? Don't think about getting here too much past 11 and having much of a selection. It's all about freshness with a good donut. They are made at 4 or 5 in the morning, don't let those beautiful things wait around that long for you to pick them up! Apple fritters are my favorite and one of their specialties. Crispy fried exterior, butter soft inside, and glaze that just melts you away. Raised, long johns, butterfly, bear claws, French (to die for), bismarks with a variety of classic fillings, twists, old fashioned, cinnamon roll, and many more. Chocolate, white, maple, glazed, sprinkles. Try the cherry cake if they happen to make it that day (kind of a special every once in a while). Once again, classic. Nothing overly fancy, but why does sugar and fat have to be fancy? They just have to be fresh and delicious, and boy are they.

This is an old school, small town donut shop. Don't expect to find herbs or pork or clever names. They have donuts. Some with sprinkles. Some with glaze. Etc. There's really no need for further explanation. When you imagine a classic, small town donut shop, this is it. The end. PS. They're pretty damn good, too. Get the apple fritter. It's thin and wide and crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside and fantastic. And cheap!

Donut Hut is the doughnut shop that you both want and deserve. It's obvious that doughnuts are making a huge resurgence in the Twin Cities with a number of smaller independent bakers popping up in the past few years. Most of these new bakers style themselves as gourmet, culinary experts (i.e. Glam Doll & Bogart's). My major fault with these new places is that they forget the essence of what a doughnuts fundamentally is - my morning baked (or fried) sugary dough ball. A lot of these places try to turn the doughnut into a cupcake when it simply isn't. Don't get me wrong. I love that someone is out there right now trying to create a jalapeno and cheddar cheese doughnut, but that is not an excuse to charge $3 per doughnut. If you want to know if you are going to a "gourmet doughnut shop" first ask yourself, "Is this place open after 12 PM?" If the answer is affirmative, expect to pay $2 - $3 per doughnut and try a doughnut that is a dessert not a breakfast food. Donut Hut makes no illusions about what it is. It is your local neighborhood doughnut shop. Good but economical. No atmosphere but plenty of love in the food. Simply put, all doughnuts at Donut Hut are less than a dollar, which is the correct price for a doughnut. The quality is good too. The best doughnut by far is the apple fritter. I could barely hold it with one hand, was a perfect mixture of crunchy, sugary, and savory. Finally, I know this review is accurate because there was a line of ten people going out the door when I stopped in. So, others seem to share this opinion too! A couple heads up: - $5 minimum for credit card purchases. So pretty much a cash only place of you are ordering for a single person. - No bathroom - Limited seating

This is one of the only doughnut shops that I know of in this area and it is fabulous. A local crew of older gentlemen seems to be a permanent staple here, which is adorable. The apple fritter is to die for and the rest of the doughnuts are just as good. I've since moved out of Little Canada and miss this place terribly!

Donut Hut is my favorite twin cities donut place. Everything is consistently delicious and priced very fairly. I've only found one donut shop in the cities I like more, but it charges almost twice as much as the Hut. Make sure you come in early, or your favorites will be gone. Credit/Debit for purchases over $5 only, so bring cash if you're just getting a treat for yourself. Aside from the donuts always being great, I love the small town feel in there. There always seem to be a handful of old men from Roseville/Little Canada hanging around in there. One time, my wife showed up at 9:30 to find an empty display case and no staff. The old men told her that the owner had gone home because she sold out early and left them to close up.

It's tough to find a donut place in Minnesota! I came here and it was average. It was convenient to where I lived. I prefer a donut from a donut establishment than at the grocery store or gas station.
